Flight Crew: Akronym Brewing redeveloping city s thirst for beer

In 2018, Shawn Adams, Josh Blubaugh, Kevin Johnson and Aaron Cruikshank opened the brewery doors during the onset of downtown Akron’s redevelopment. They have developed right along with the city.
“It was a bit challenging to get people to come downtown again. This is still a problem with most of the downtown workforce working from home,” according to Shawn, head brewer and Akron firefighter.
However, Akronym continues to grow through the expansion of canning and distribution, hoping to top 500 barrels of beer this year. They also continue to grow the space.
